How to clear a blocked drain – the green way

Tip #1

What should you do if your kitchen sink or shower or any other drain to slow to release water or blocks completely?

Don’t unclog your drain with chemicals/caustic acids. They are corrosive and can dissolve the glue binding your pipes, they may harm marine life and can burn your skin.
There are much better, far greener (and FREE) ways to unblock a drain. Follow these steps first:

  1. Sprinkle 1/2 cup baking soda down the drain.
  2. Wait one minute. Pour a cup of vinegar after it
  3. Wait one minute and pour a jug of boiling water down the drain.
  4. Repeat if necessary
  5. Repeat weekly to keep your pipes and drains fresh

… if more than one drain is blocked, skip our tip and call your plumber straight away. Why? The blockage isn’t sitting in the pipe beneath the sink/basin/shower drain but in the main sewer line. All the vinegar in the world won’t touch it.
